So textfugu does a good job of explaining how to conjugate い-adjectives when the adjective comes after the noun it’s describing.

ex: この くるま が あたらしくない です

However I did not see an example of a conjugation where the い-adjective comes before the known it’s describing.

I have two guesses as to how this is done (if it’s done at all).

English: I will go to the not new park. OR I will go to the park that’s not new… (something along those lines)

Guess 1: あたらしくない こうえん を いきます

    Guess 2: こうえん は あたらしくない を いきます

Can someone tell me if either of these are correct? Or is this phrasing just as awkward in Japanese as it is in English?

Guess 1 is correct. Granted, this particular sentence seems an odd thing to say, but the concept itself is correct. Same trick goes for past tense adjectives.

Thank you, that definitely helps.  I’m glad I didn’t have to wait until I found it in the wild to get confirmation.
