When I was young I had the good fortune to study in Japan with a very old gentleman (he was born in 1894 and passed away in 1987). I am not young anymore;  I remember very little, and have been informed on many occasions that what I do remember is “archaic”.

Anyway I am trying to relearn what I once knew and so I am here. I admit that I do not much care for anki and do not keep up with notes in evernote too well but I do appreciate the way the textfugu approach works. It balances out.

Hello. Your story is very interesting. I do find it fascinating to see how language has evolved over the years. Perhaps that elderly gentleman has a smile on his face now seeing you pursue learning the language again.

Dan – What a great story! Thanks so much for sharing. Make that old man proud by what you learn now and every day in the future. :)

Welcome and good luck with your studies!
