    Can か be used as ‘or’?  I think I saw someone mention it the other day, but can’t find it now.

    If so, any rules etc. for this?

    Thank you for your contribution.

    Yep. Formation is N1かN2か or S1infかS2infか (though the last か is usually dropped when it’s a list of nouns). Grammar dictionary says “the basic function of か is to mark an alternative.”

    An nice little usage of this is in the phrase 「~かどうか」, which means  ”whether or not ~”

    彼が来るかどうか知らない。
    I don’t know whether he will come or not.

    Thanks all.

    I take it from the above that it is happy to be used with adjectives also.

    Indeed. Sinf = Sentence, stand-alone verb, adjective, et cetera.

    I meant to ask you what “Sinf” meant; it’s not something I’ve ever come across. I’m sure I’ve seen N1/N2 as nouns and S as sentence, but just not the “inf” part.

    Inf = informal

    Thought it might have been “infinite” :P

    You’re free to write an infinite sentence if you like. Don’t come complaining that it never ends, though. =P
