English translation (and a little extra!): Hello there! My name is Maggie Cruz. I’m 21 years old and live in Florida, and have been studying the Japanese language for about 7 years. Ever since I was a young child, I always had a fascination for anime and Japanese video games, and once I was able to find a high school magnet program that offered Japanese, I immediately took the chance to start studying it. I have recently graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Japanese Language and Literature! I actually have a dream to work in translation/localization for a video game company, and because of that, I really hope to become fluent in the language over the next few years. Because I have never self studied the language (I have always had the privilege of taking it in a classroom setting since I started in 2008), I’m a little scared to suddenly start studying completely on my own. Nonetheless, I hope to do my best in order to achieve my dream to become fluent and (hopefully) use my Japanese language skills in my future career.

I love having the chance to talk to people, especially to practice Japanese, so feel free to chat with me!

Welcome! If you’ve been studying for seven years, I rather suspect you’ll find TextFugu to be a litle bit basic – I’ve only been studying for five years myself, and I left it behind long ago. That said, Koichi is working on EtoEto, which will include new advanced-level study materials…
