Hello! My name is Danielle. I just joined TextFugu last week, and I am very excited to learn Japanese. I am mostly through season 2 now. This text book is very well written and enjoyable.
As for how I came upon wanting to learn Japanese, I loved Pokemon as a young child, but didn’t necessarily relate it to Japan at the time. After doing a report on Japan in 3rd grade, I became fascinated by Japan, its culture, and its language. Later, anime became a passionate hobby and I refused to watch it English because I loved the sound of the Japanese language. I want to learn Japanese because I don’t much like the sound of my native tongue, English, and Japanese seems to be the logical alternative for me. I would love to travel to Japan and be able to understand and interact with people and things around me. Of course, watching anime without subtitles is also a welcome bonus.
