Hi everyone, I’m Hayley. I’m 22 years old, and a graphic and web design student living in the Midwest. I currently attend a college that doesn’t offer Japanese, so I’ve had to turn to self study. I’m trying to learn Japanese so I can talk to my friend あいり, who was an exchange student my senior year in high school. We’ve recently gotten in touch again via Facebook and her English has deteriorated considerably in 5 years, so I want to help meet in the middle.
I also want to learn Japanese so I can understand the lyrics to Japanese music (いきものがかり being one of my favorite groups – I also love the music from PGSM), and watch anime without the subtitles and have some idea what’s going on :) I also love manga, and have the Sailor Moon series in Japanese and my goal is to be able to read it one day (For those who don’t know – Sailor Moon, until very recently only had an English translation that was dumbed down and full of 90s slang. It was physically painful to read, so I decided Japanese would be easier…).
I’m pretty much a nerd through and through. I’m also a big gamer (Gears of War, Elder Scrolls), reader, and sci-fi fan. Thanks for reading, and I’m excited to get to know you!

Heya Hayley, welcome to TextFugu! Do you have a portfolio or something for your web design stuff? As someone who works with that kinda thing, I’d love to see your work!

Anyway, good luck with your studies!
