Greetings everyone, I’m new around here so its nice to meet you all 0.-.

At any rate, I’m new to japanese and all and was hoping any of you could check my な answers from the 4th season to see if they are anywhere near what I meant to say (I used google translate to check but I’m sure I can’t really trust it…)

この ハンバーガー は べんり でした。 This hamburger was convenient.

あの 人 は きれい でした。 That person was beautiful.

りんご の ハート は げんき でしたよ。 The apple’s heart/core was healthy. (in assertion)

あの かぞく は 有名 じゃありませんでした。 That family (over there) was not famous.

この ペン は きけん じゃありません。 This pen is not dangerous.

にほん の くるま は はで です。 Japan’s cars are showy. (I assume it can mean flashy)

にほん の たべもの は 好き ですか? Do you like you like japanese food?

その じてんしゃ は 安全 じゃありません でした。 That bicycle is not safe.

    ボビーさん の つくえ は ふべん ですね。 Bobby’s desk is inconvenient, isn’t it.

ひろゆきさん の せんせい は がんこ です。 Hiroyuki’s teacher is stubborn.
(wanted to put ” ひろゆきさん の せんせい は がんこ ですねか?” but not sure if that would say: Hiroyuki’s teacher is stubborn, isn’t he? ).

マイケルさん の わらい は ばか です。 Michael’s laugh is stupid.

    ともやくん の うたい は きれい でした。 Tomoya’s singing is pretty/beautiful.

その めがね は 便利 でした。 Those glasses were convenient.

あの いしゃ は いじわる じゃありません でした。 That doctor (over there) is not mean.
(wanted to put ” あの いしゃ はなし 、 ぼく は げんき でした。” but not sure if that would say: ” That doctor said I was fine.”)

    わたし の しごと が きらい じゃありません。 I don’t hate my job.
ひとみさん の しごと は あんぜん じゃありません。 Hitomi’s work is not safe.

Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated. =D

Hello and welcome to TF. I’m not much further ahead of you but I’ll give it a shot:

その じてんしゃ は 安全 じゃありません でした。 That bicycle is not safe. = should be ” that bicylce was not safe”

    ともやくん の うたい は きれい でした。 Tomoya’s singing is pretty/beautiful. – should be “tomoya’s signing was pretty/beautiful”

あの 人 は きれい でした。 That person was beautiful. = should be “that person over there was beautiful”

あの いしゃ は いじわる じゃありません でした。 That doctor (over there) is not mean. = should be “that doctor over there was not mean”

ひろゆきさん の せんせい は がんこ ですねか? = don’t think you really need to put both ね and か in there as when you put ね in a sentence, one of it’s uses is asking for agreement which is basically the same asking a question. so dropping か from the sentence would make it translate as Hiroyuki’s teacher is stubborn, isn’t he?

あの いしゃ はなし 、 ぼく は げんき でした。 = not sure if はなし can be used to say the word ‘said’. someone else on here is bound to know though.

Also, there may be a case for using が instead of は as you’re identifying the things in those sentences. I agree about using Google Translate. It’s ok for single words and very basic sentences, but not ideal for longer complicated ones.

The ね part had me doubting for a while to be honest xD (thanks for clearing it up)

On the “said” part, I didn’t think we could add the はなしました in the middle of a sentence so I shortened it to the version that doesn’t implies a state(present/past and etc.) and replaced spoke with said、 I assume without changing the meaning. (I’m probably wrong though =P )

(I also realize I pretty much messed in writing most of the past ones correctly in the English translation, I guess I’ll have to pay more attention to them =/)

    Thank you =).

Glad to help out. Learning from each other makes this community the best I’ve ever been part of.

Using the particle ね can make the sentence a question by itself in reflection so か is not needed.
To say “The doctor said I was fine”, you would need the quoting と particle to say
あの いしゃ は ぼく は げんき だ と いいました。 Have you reached the quoting lesson yet?

I believe the と is on the 6th season, so no =/(I’m currently about to start the い adjetives of season 4) , thought thanks for showing something in advance.
