Hi,
The sentence “みんな がくせい なのよ. ” is from Season 3 Sentence enders. I’m not quite comprehending the usage of な before the のよ.
みんな – everyone
がくせい – student
and then there’s なのよ. The regular usage is のよ. From the notes, の is to add emphasis and よ for assertion. I don’t understand the explanation given: “This is added in here to make sure people don’t think you’re saying “it’s everyone’s student’s ….” You don’t want people to think you’re talking about something the student is in possession of.”
Can someone please clarify more as to why there’s the な? And possibly give another example where なのよ is used? And one example where のよ is used?
Thanks.
