今日は, everybody!
私はネイトです。
(I’m Nate.)
I’m using TextFugu for a few reasons:
I want to be able to speak the language when I do a semester in Japan like I’m planning to do, and I’ve always just loved Japanese culture. My parents spent a lot of time in Japan before I was born, so our family has a lot of Japan-oriented traditions, my sister took Japanese classes in high school (although she forgot most of it), and I’m a total anime geek, so I’m just completing the next step in my life-cycle, right? My first long-ish-term goal is to be able to read Sword Art Online manga in Japanese as soon as possible, and then to be able to watch the show without subtitles, but ultimately I want to be fluent enough to manage in Japan!

Anyway, I’m loving TextFugu so far, and I look forward to learning with you all!

Welcome!

Good luck on your aim to do an exchange in Japan. I’d always wanted to, but I never simultaneously had both the money to afford it and the time to do it. That said, isn’t Sword Art Online a light novel series?

Also, tiny side note: こんにちは is usually written in kana. =)
