Hello everyone. 私はカイエンです。よろしくお願いします。I have been on and off studying Japanese for roughly two years on my own, and will be majoring in Japanese this fall. Last summer I spent 3 weeks in Kumamoto and Kyoto for an art seminar and absolutely fell in love, so next year I will be completing my BA in Japan (not sure which university yet).
I am also a linguistics major (double major + a minor in either Chinese or Arabic, undecided) and want to eventually get my ESL teaching certification. My goal is to be a translator and – hopefully – work for the UN or another NGO.
So, needless to say, I am a language nerd. Any and all languages + the countries and cultures. I guess I’m a global person. I’m currently studying (mostly) Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and French. I also have a basic knowledge base in Finnish, Portuguese, Spanish, and German. I will be taking an intro course to Arabic this summer so I will see where that takes me. I really just want to learn as many languages as I can fit in my head, both as a personal goal and for fun.
As far as Japanese goes, the language is intriguing and I absolutely love learning it.
頑張ってください! (^_^)/
