Next year I start with the university thing if everything goes right, been doing lots of reading. Love neuroscience, so going with biology fields…
July 22, 2011 at 4:05 pm #14475Good luck then, because that’s what I just finished =) You won’t see a lot of Neurosciecne until later semesters tho.. well, depends on your chosen study field in biology, cuz I went general (back in the day there weren’t that many different ones, now there’s biotech, biomed, evolution etc..).
July 24, 2011 at 4:36 pm #14547Oh, I just remembered! I can participate in this thread since I’m technically in grad school. Going for a masters in curriculum design with a content specialization in physics at GVSU. I found out I was coming to Japan shortly after I enrolled in the program and never took any classes and won’t until I move back to the States (if I move back to the States).
July 29, 2011 at 6:35 am #14725I’m going to University end of September this year to study Physics. The university does offer Japanese modules but I don’t think you can take them with physics unfortunately. Fortunately they do have a evening course. I was wondering if it would be worth my time or if continuing with Textfugu (at a slower pace) would be better. I’m on Season 3 but haven’t had much practice at social learning. Good look to everyone else at Uni/College/GradSchool :)
August 4, 2011 at 3:58 pm #15077Just thought I’d let the thread know: I decided not to take Japanese at school. I actually kicked my ass enough to make myself study more, and I find that I’m learning well enough on Textfugu. Plus, I talked to this girl that took Jap at my school and said it was really horrible. And she’s way ahead of me, in regards to learning Japanese, so I trust that opinion. Plus people have said the same here in the Textfugu forums.
August 4, 2011 at 4:36 pm #15079Starting second year in college.
Would wish that I could learn Japanese at my college, but sadly I can’t :(
I will be studying Japanese here on TextFugu, along with everything else :) Hope I have enough time!August 4, 2011 at 5:35 pm #15085Im just about to go into my sophomore year of college, studying computer science. Sadly no where in Washington where i live (Olympia) offers a degree in japanese or asian study’s , But most colleges offer at least some basic japanese courses which i might look into, but from what i hear it doesnt actually help you speak the language. Starting out a bit late in learning japanese, but hopefully textfugu will be a good jump start.

August 22, 2011 at 12:12 am #16020Starting my second year of veterinary medicine in Czech republic…
So no Japanese classes for me(even if I wanted it, they’re probably in Czech), and I’ll need some time management and self disipline if I want to make any Japanese progress.

For the Spring semester I’m not going back, I’m going to pay off my loan and do other, more desirable things with my time/ money. Plus I won’t have other classes taking up study time/ focus/ energy from Japanese. I’d like to send a Generation X style ‘suck it’ to college right now. :P
