August 22, 2011 at 1:18 pm #160551. It means therefore.
2. Shook hands with dad, or papa.
3. It means nice to meet you.
4. I think it means, “Therefore, I shook hands with my dad. Nice to meet you, dad.”I’m still a beginner, so I had to look up what 握手 was. Is that cheating, xD? I’m happy that I was able to understand that sentence, except one thing.
August 22, 2011 at 3:07 pm #16058@Soleil – yeah, def look stuff up! Just make sure you learn it after you look it up, though :D
August 22, 2011 at 3:19 pm #16059I was pleased at how little I needed rikaikun for this one.
1) So; therefore
2) Shook hands with Papa
3) Lit: Beginning; usage: “Pleased to meet you.”
4) So I shook hands with Papa. I’m pleased to meet you.August 22, 2011 at 4:07 pm #16061My answers are the same as Soleil’s.

You guys know what’s up.
だから僕はパパと握手をした。はじめまして パパ。
1. What is だから?
So, Therefore
2. What does パパと握手をした mean?
“Shook hands with Papa”
と is the particle that makes it mean “with”
3. What does はじめまして mean, and when do you use it?
Means “nice to meet you” – use it when you meet someone, of course.
4. What does the whole sentenece, mean?
” So I shook hands with Papa. ‘Nice to meet you, papa’ “
November 10, 2016 at 8:22 am #49797Ok, as always: first – answers, then – check:
1. I’d translated it as “that’s why”.
2. I think it means “I shaked hands with my father”.
3. If I’m not mistaken, it means “Nice to meet you”. It’s used when introducing yourself.
4. I’d translate the whole sentence as “That’s why I shaked hands with my father. Nice to meet you, father”.
[update]
1. Failed, but not too much, I think.
2. Close enough, I think.
3. Seems fine.
4. Well, all in all, I’d say close enough.- This reply was modified 8 years, 1 month ago by trunklayer.
