Hi guys!
Just wondering if anyone has installed / upgraded to Anki 2? The sync feature looks really useful, but I don’t want to rush and download it if people are already experiencing bugs..
January 8, 2013 at 12:56 pm #37858I have downloaded the Anki version 2.o and so far it has been good. Most of the old features are still there but are accessed in a different way. The new version is much faster as it puts all decks in one file the the sync feature is really fast and only sync’s the cards that have changed and not the whole deck. One thing I like about the new version is it keeps all your like decks in order and is makes file naming easier to keep consistent instead of being jumbled all over the place. So far everything runs smooth and I haven’t found any glitches. I will just have to get re familiar where everything is at. All your old decks should import to the new version just make sure they are all downloaded onto your hard drive in the correct place.
January 8, 2013 at 10:30 pm #37866I have Anki 2.0 and like it. I haven’t noticed any bugs. The only complaint I have (and maybe someone can point out the feature if I’m just missing it) is that the new version does not tell you how many reviews you will have tomorrow. The old version would tell me at the end of my session that I would have x-reviews due in x-days. This new version does not show that so I have no idea how many cards will be due tomorrow. It irritates me because I don’t want to study more today if it will add a TON more due cards tomorrow. Since I have no way of knowing what’s due tomorrow, it’s hard to know how many more cards I should add today while keeping my reviews tomorrow manageable.
January 8, 2013 at 11:06 pm #37867Well, you can set a limit to how many reviews you do that day. By default it looks like it’s set to 100 cards per day… you can change it. Maybe that helps?
January 9, 2013 at 1:33 pm #37896Thanks everyone, just downloaded it and synced it with my phone as well. Works really well, would recommend it.
I noticed the same problem about it not showing the number of reviews tomorrow. Hopefully they’ll update that soon.
January 9, 2013 at 2:23 pm #37903Yeah, kind of annoying. I like to get an idea of what I’ll be facing the next day so I can plan accordingly… though I suppose it doesn’t matter too much. I had to set my daily card limit pretty high so I don’t miss any review cards… the idea of only doing 100 cards/day is tempting, but I feel like I would be missing out on too much and it would mess with my memory. Overall, the new updates aren’t bad, I guess. I definitely like the way that new cards are handled!
January 9, 2013 at 3:29 pm #37904Yeah, I have to set my limits high on a couple of decks to guarantee I don’t miss any reviews. That’s annoying but easy to workaround. For me, the issue is more about adding new cards. I constantly add new cards to decks but leave them suspended until my reviews are manageable for each day. I will hit spikes in reviews and that’s when I stop adding cards. It’s hard to know when those spikes will hit, though, since Anki no longer tells me what will be due tomorrow. I don’t like browsing the deck to check because I inevitably will see both sides of the cards and thus my reviews aren’t as accurate because I got a “sneak peak.”
January 9, 2013 at 3:42 pm #37905By the way, if you download the Anki 2, does that mean you have to get the corresponding Anki 2 app if you have it on ipod or android?
January 9, 2013 at 4:35 pm #37907@missing – yes, but it’s considered an upgrade and therefore free on iOS…I think it was always free on android
January 10, 2013 at 5:27 am #37936uh holy shit, does anki 2 delete 100 of your recently added cards?
EDIT: nmv figured it out
January 31, 2013 at 7:39 am #38359Has anyone had difficulty importing into an existing deck? No matter what I try, Anki 2 (2.0.7) will only create a new deck when I import one of the download files.

January 31, 2013 at 3:57 pm #38365I just wanted to add a quick note to this thread since I was complaining about not knowing how many cards are due the next day.
Just in case anyone else missed that feature… there is an icon in the top right corner that looks like a graph. Click on it. For the options at the bottom of the graphs, change deck –> collection. It will tell you how many cards are due tomorrow.
January 31, 2013 at 4:39 pm #38367Anki2 is well good.
