Normally I add a few sentences to my sentence deck when I hit a grammar point I’m not sure I will remember. I use the same note type as those from the sentence deck here from TextFugu. This note type was very smart (imo) because, when I type a sentence in the “expression field” it automatically copies it to the “reading field” and it automatically adds furigana to the reading field.
…But…
Now I’ve bought a new computer (with windows 8) and since then MY LIFE BEGAN TO IMMERSE IN LIQUID OBLIVION… Okay sorry, I exaggerated. After I began using my new computer, it doesn’t automatically add the reading with furigana in the reading field.
Does anyone know how I can make this work again. It have saved me from a lot of time when adding my sentence notes.Probably not a solution to your problem, but: 8 or 8.1? Because you should really upgrade to 8.1, regardless of what it does for Anki. =)
Perhaps you forgot to install the Japanese Plugin again?
Run in compatibility mode maybe? I don’t know if that’ll fix it, since I refuse to use Windows 8. If I bought a computer I would ‘downgrade’ immediately.
That’s what I did when Vista came out. I installed XP while I was on the bus on the way home from the store. Anyways, derailing the thread here lol…

Which Japanese plugin? I don’t remember I installed a Japanese plugin.

When I bough my new computer, I thought I would downgrade immediately too. I disliked the new OS too and I’ve had bad experiences with another computer where 8.1 was installed. But I found out the errors occurred because the computer wasn’t build to Win 8 (and especially not for 8.1), or rather the OS wasn’t build to the computer.
So with this totally new pc (which can run the latest games in the best graphic) win 8.1 works fine.Then Im pretty sure its because you didnt install the Japanese Support Plugin for Anki.
It’s a plugin that helps with stuff like furigana and a lot of premade Anki decks require it. Textfugu tells you to install it when it first introduces Anki. You probalbly just forgot all about it.That’s probably the answer, Strangeluv.
