Are all of the decks supposed to be separate in anki? Ie there is a sentences 3 deck and a separate sentences 4 deck, or are they all supposed to combine into a single sentences deck? I was under the impression that each successive sentence deck was supposed to be added to previous sentences but whenever I follow the import directions I end up with a new and separate deck.
I have the exact same problem. The page http://www.textfugu.com/season-2/asking-questions/practice/#top clearly states that we should be importing new sentences in the original “Textfugu sentences” deck, but the method it provides does not seem to work with the latest version of Anki.
This page probably needs to be updated. Meanwhile, it would be nice to provide us here with the right method to import new sentences in a single deck.
So I figured out a way: just rename the new deck files to the same name as the first deck “Text Fugu Sentences” and then import it. It will import on the first deck.
Thanks that kind of works but for some reason it only works for some decks and not others. Gonna try deleting all the decks and the program and just reinstalling and redownloading/importing… This is so frustrating, if I could just get anki to work properly I’d be flying through the lessons. :/ I might just have to invest in a real text book/ online program cuz I spend more time trying to figure out anki than actually studying. I kind of wish I hadn’t paid for this :(
Importing and then moving the cards works for me. You just open the cardbrowser, select the newly imported cards and then Move cards. You select the deck you want and voilà. The newly imported deck is then empty and can be deleted. It isn’t as smooth as the original method, but it has worked on all my decks so far.
Amanda: when renaming make sure you type it exactly the same way as the deck is named (including caps). I haven’t had any problems so far.
