Last week sometime something in Anki stopped the media from being copied over to my local DropBox folder. When creating a new deck, media added before a sync (before it and the media appears on AnkiWeb) is copied and plays fine. After a sync, all new cards that have media do not have the media copied over correctly. I was debugging it for 90min last night to no avail. Copying the media manually works as does the Find Missing Media (not actual name) tool, but that tool is less useful since it can’t find missing media. I will have to re-run through the plug-in for Dropbox when I get home. I just wish I knew what caused it. It worked fine for weeks and then nothing all of a sudden.

Same exact thing happened. Though if ur other decks play the media that it did have i dont think it was a dropbox problwm. I know this is old but if u figured it out please let me no, thanks in advance.

I think im experiencing the same problem. media worked fine pre dropbox but every deck i now import I have no sound when i review the cards. the media files work when played in another program (opened in itunes) but I cant for the life of me figure out why they wont play in anki!? could this have something to do with dropbox? any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated. I have pretty much stopped studying for a few days now trying to figure out this problem but just giving up after a while cause i cant.

Every time I try to import one of the textfugu decks to anki, instead of showing the actual reading and meaning and playing the sound, it just says :
{{reading}}
{{meaning}}
{{audio}}
on the ‘back’ of the card.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Can someone help me please ! :)

So upon trying to get my Anki stuff synced with Ankiweb, now all my media stuff is messed up. None of the audio plays for my cards. I tried to reverse my steps (uninstalled dropbox with the anki dropbox plugin, changed the setting in anki back to “keep media next to deck”) but still no luck.

Anyone know where I be like “Hey get all my media stuff from THIS folder you always used to”?

Dropbox has gone through some changes recently. That may have some relation to the syncing problems people are having.

@Poppy – are you trying to import the downloaded decks into an already existing deck or to create a new deck?

I want to import them to a deck I’ve already created, however as it never works for me, I don’t want to mess up my decks to I create it as a new deck at first to check if it works – which it never does!

Hi, I am new to Textfugu. I really am disappointed with how much the course relies on Anki. Koichi spends so much time explaining how to get Anki to work during the lessons. It’s obviously not a user friendly program. I am an iPad user and rarely have access to my desktop because I am away from home a lot. So basically I have to skip over all of the Anki downloads. I realise there is a ¥2200 app, but I refuse to pay for the Anki app. Why should It cost so much more than other apps? Boo :-(

Because the desktop version is free, and the guy has to make money? He made pretty much everything, including the apps I think. Very talented guy, and the program is amazing.
Also, anki is worth way way more than ２２００円 imo. Where would I be if it wasn’t for anki? 0.o don’t use it if you don’t like it, I would like to see how fast you can progress without using anki… That would actually be quite interesting. Be sure to come on the forums in ½ a year, I would like to know your vocab/grammar knowledge by then.

You raise a good point. Koichi noted a few months ago, he plans to make a built in SRS app for TF. This would be better for users like yourself and anyone that has problems with Anki.

Every time I try to import a set of cards into an existing deck, it just makes another deck anyways. Literally, every time- and when I look for an answer as to why it won’t, I can only find “Just open the deck and then import”, which is what I did. So when asking how to do something, the answer I’m getting is “just do it”. Can somebody help me? I don’t want a million decks lying around…

Importing cards into existing deck doesnt work anymore. I guess that was before Anki 2 came out. You can drag a deck ontop of another deck to create stacks. You’ll see a plus sign that allows you to see whats inside that stack.
