    Hi,

I just signed up for textfugu after about a month of self-study, I did all the free lessons and this community seemed like something I wanted to be a part of.

I’m still on Chapter 1, but I’m confident in my hiragana (Which seemed like a BIG step in the right direction)

Truthfully, I’m learning Japanese so that I can someday watch anime & read manga in their fluent language. I’d also like to be able to play video games in Japanese, so I can get some of the best games & play them before they’re translated.

I’d also like to visit Japan.(as well as everyone here, right?) My goal is to make a Japanese penpal and hopefully find a part time job situation over there, like 4 hours a day, couple days a week, working @ a hotel or restaurant to give me a working experience to help my Japanese along. I only plan on staying for a week or two, but in that time I’ll find my way to a hot springs (I’ve got no tattoos) a rave and a video game/anime convention.

I’ve joined the Textfugu TeamSpeak, I hope to see you around!

Hey, welcome! :) Good luck with learning Japanese.
    Now, a rave would be awesome… so’d be a video game/anime convention.

Hey Hoss! Being confident in hiragana is a great foundation for learning Japanese. :)

Thanks for the comforting welcome. So, the only Japanese speaking IRL friend I have talked me out of learning Katakana. He said I should learn more vocab/grammar/verbs before bothering to confuse myself with another Kana.

Koichi saves it for Chapter two as well, so I’ll hold off. But I used “Remembering the Kana” by Heisig for Hiragana, and I think it really helped, I was anxious to start on Katakana.
