…after an 16 day vacation with limited internet. I was on a cruise ship going thru the Panama Canal and internet access time is not cheap so getting on TextFugu was not feasible. I did load up with vocab flash cards on my iPad/iPod (using FlashCardlet and AnkiMobile) plus other written and audio materials and studied everyday. It’s amazing how much you can get done when you don’t have a lot of daily interruptions!
So now I’m home and ready to pick up where I left off. ^_^

Oh yeah, I hear that. I’ve been invited on a cruise in July, and Internet time costs like a dollar a minute. Ouch.

    Welcome back Tang.

    @ Joel
Ouch. A dollar a minute is expensive. Guess roaming charges on a smartphone will be just as bad.

I got 100 minutes for $55 but it takes 2 minutes just logging into Facebook because the connection is slow. I mostly kept my grandkids informed as to where we were and that we were ok.

Waitaminute… cruise ships in the Caribbean charge a dollar a minute for internet access? Really? I was in Europe for 3 months for work, and took a couple of ferries on the Baltic Sea for weekend sightseeing. When I say “ferry”, I don’t mean “tugboat”, I mean “somewhat less-fancy cruise ship with far more booze for sale”. And even these not-quite-vacation-cruise ships still had free internet access all over the ship.

The trains and train stations, though, were another matter…
