The way I come back to my spot in TextFugu is by adding it to my Safari Reading List. This is actually getting pretty cumbersome for me. I was hoping a rudimentary bookmark system could be implemented in TextFugu. That way the next time I load up the TextFugu site I can go right back to where I left off. I’d really appreciate this.
March 4, 2012 at 2:19 am #27320That would be nice. I just started using TextFugu, and this feature would make my life easier for sure.
March 5, 2012 at 10:12 am #27361I agree that it would be a great thing to add to TextFugu but the problem is that I really have no idea how to even begin to implement something like that. If anybody has any suggestions, I’d be glad to look into it.
March 5, 2012 at 1:34 pm #27368I’m a Web Developer by day so I’d be more than happy to help out, ping me an email Hashi :)

March 26, 2012 at 4:22 pm #28522Would be fantastic if you guys can pull that off. Bookmark system would be a great enhancement. Keeping my fingers crossed.
March 26, 2012 at 5:59 pm #28523You could also always just use a browser that lets you pin tabs. Pin textfugu in Firefox or Chrome and it will always be right where you left off the last time you used it.
May 9, 2012 at 12:45 pm #30479yeh that would help alot! plus have a progress bar shown as well….just a suggestion :P
May 9, 2012 at 1:08 pm #30480I just realized if this guy is a Web Developer by day, then what is he by night?

Or maybe just asleep. I dunno.
Anyway, I’d love to see a bookmark feature, too, and a progress bar would be a nice, but not uber-necessary, bonus IMO. (I mean, I don’t know how a progress bar would take into account whether you’re skipping around at all. Maybe there could be a button to click at the bottom of each page to show you’re “done” with it, or maybe there could be actual interactive quizzes to test your knowledge, which is what determines the state of the progress bar? And maybe there’s another thread on this already that I haven’t seen because I’ve only just started poking around here, so I apologize if I’m repeating stuff other people have said. ;))
July 23, 2012 at 9:17 pm #33491TLDR~ I agree about the bookmark. Progress bar edges on the ‘too impractical’ side of things. Koichi is sort of against the aforementioned quizzes.
Absolutely! I was about to post a new topic about this, but figured I should look around a bit. I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one thinking this. As for the progress bar, it might be difficult because of a.) the aforementioned jumping around and b.) the never-ending flow of lessons that Koichi continues to add. [Thanks Koichi!!!!] On a final note, someone asked about quizzes to test whether or not you know something in addition to the practice. I have talked to Koichi about this before, and he simply mentioned that he didn’t want people to learn just to pass the test. I tend to disagree and figure that if you’re self-teaching, you probably will use the quiz as a way to make sure you really know something. But. That’s just me. Koichi makes the book not me. :/
July 24, 2012 at 8:34 am #33498Yeah, I just keep my page open on Firefox, but it does sound like a good idea for others.
July 24, 2012 at 9:08 am #33505I use Evernote to take down notes on TF lessons and I go by that to see where I’ve got up to. A bookmark feature would be useful but I can see problems arising as others have mentioned. A quiz at the end of each lesson is a good idea. It would reinforce what you’ve just learnt and would add extra motivation.

Did he say anything about a wanikani like implementation. I know he mentioned doing away with anki but wasnt sure how he wanted to structure it.

He said in a blog update a few months ago, he wants to use a built in SRS for TextFugu. I don’t mind using Anki but I think it would sort out all those issues some people have with Anki like media not playing. A WaniKani integration makes sense. TF for lessons and grammar. WaniKani for Kanji and vocab.
