Unfortunately as far as my obsessive passions go, Japanese is currently taking a back seat as I’ve got a new priority at the moment. However, I still practice every day and I’m currently reading for tadoku. Which is think is the key, even when Japanese is not my current obsession I still do at least a little everyday to keep it going.
January 3, 2012 at 4:52 pm #23478@Sheepy: Go on then, what’s your new obsessive passion? Tell us :P
January 3, 2012 at 5:38 pm #23480I’ve been wanting to change my schedule around for a while now, and since it’s the new year, I decided that now would be the perfect time to do so! My goals for this year are to graduate high school with a 3.3+ GPA, achieve (at least) Gold League status in SCII, get a 1550+ 2v2 rating on my Resto Druid on WoW, study one Textfugu lesson and one to two RTK lessons per day and last, but not least, get myself on the “Everyman 2-nap” sleeping schedule so I actually have time to do all these things lol.
@Sheepy: You have to tell us what your new obsessive passion is, since you mentioned it!:P

January 4, 2012 at 4:07 am #23535@MisterM: Competitive Kangaroo Wrangling
January 4, 2012 at 1:08 pm #23581@Sheepy: I had a sneaking suspicion that was the case. Either that or a wallaby-related sport.
January 5, 2012 at 3:08 am #23681Anyway, for everyone continuing their studies this year and looking to follow new goals. How badly do you want it?
January 5, 2012 at 8:38 am #23701Explosions in the Sky, thumbs up
January 5, 2012 at 9:19 am #23708I want it so badly I’m going to sleep for at least eight hours a night. ;) Otherwise I can’t function mentally. I’ve finally had to admit I’m someone who NEEDS a full night of sleep to function properly.
Awesome video!
January 5, 2012 at 2:35 pm #23750Excellent video but completely useless for someone who needs it because it will probably make him ”burn out” mentally or pull a muscle or something. And completely useless for someone who doesn’t need it because…he doesn’t need it.
Anyway, it’s been almost a year since I started to learn and even if I’m not as good as I wanted to be, I am pretty damn proud of me.
As for this year goal, it’s simple : Continue to learn while having maximum fun possible.
Oh and on the side i’ll go with good nights of sleep too. I lack regularity in that aspect.
January 5, 2012 at 2:58 pm #23751….So that means its not an excellent video lol
January 5, 2012 at 5:21 pm #23756It’s not just about working out. Anyone here, who is obsessed with learning Japanese, and they spend everyday thinking about it, would know how this feels. Even with missing being a total troll all the time, I think he understands his, because he wants it more than almost anyone else, because he’s crazy.
January 5, 2012 at 5:47 pm #23758Love this video. I totally agree with this guy and cannot agree with him more. I’ve already skipped meals and get about three to four hours of sleep most nights. I don’t regret losing everything I gave up over this as I feel it’s so important I complete this that I can’t afford not to. This guy definitely knows what it takes to meet that kind of success.
January 6, 2012 at 3:36 pm #23931Haven’t watched the video yet, but I’ll say that I don’t particularly want it that badly at all :P Learning Japanese is a hobby for me rather than an obsession. I’m not going to give up on it because I like it too much, but I won’t slit my wrists if I never get to live in Japan/meet AK47 haha. I was never weeaboo- or otaku-esque before I started studying, so my interest in/knowledge of Japan is relatively recent; there’s no real “lifelong passion” there. The society, culture and general attitude of Japan makes it seem like it might be my kinda place, but I’m not AJATT levels of craziness about it XD
March 31, 2012 at 6:00 am #28757I was sorting my bookmarks out and found a bookmark to this, so thought it was time for an update! ^^
Looking back I can see my last goal was to complete RTK. I have been done with that for some time now, and I am glad that I got around to doing it.
My next goals are:
-Finish core 2k in 5-6 months. The speed at which I can go through it will be determined by exams this year.
-Pass JLPT 4 this summer ^^
-Get around to making ½-1h fully comprehensible audio. (no time frame yet)March 31, 2012 at 6:16 am #28758My new goals are to studying up teaching techniques and English language (because I suck at it LOL), of course while trying to pursuing the pursuit of happyness. Also aiming to eat some korean bbq in the near future with lots of rice. mmmmmmm
