    Hello all,

I have been studying Japanese for a while now and when I first started out it was because I lived in Japan! Getting better at Japanese was important to making my life better there. Now I don’t live in Japan anymore but work as a Social Studies teacher (first in the states, currently I’m in Mexico). My short term goal is to study to pass the California Teacher Test for Japanese (called the CSET). I would love to be able to teach beginning Japanese and share my love of the language with kids. I have already passed the first two tests but still need to pass the third one this spring (I missed it by one point….) These tests are not really too hard. I think passing JLPT level two was much harder… but that third test does require me to actually write a couple of passages in Japanese, which is something I have a tough time doing without a computer!

So as you can see I’m not really using TextFugu for learning the language from the start, but rather going through it as a review and to get ideas for teaching Japanese myself. I have also recently signed up for WaniKani and love it! However, by progress might be a little slow because I will be trying to learn how to write the Kanji as well.

    よろしくお願いします!
