Is there a difference between the words 支社 and 支局? Or are they like the english equivalents of words like a drink and a beverage?

Not completely certain, but if I were to hazard, I’d say that 支社 is a company’s branch office, while 支局 is the branch office of, say, a post office or a TV broadcaster, sort of thing. The first gets more Google results, either way, so it seems to be the more common.
