Hey guys,
as the title asks, I need to know if koichi is actually still answering emails, in particular the emergency ones.
The payment system kind of fucked me over today, since I paid only a few hours ago and yet my access was revoked just now, after I disabled the auto-payment. I’d prefer to do it manually and really didn’t expect to be locked out before the month I paid for, was over.
But I realized that koichi seems to be rather inactive on these forums and his blog, so I really hope somebody can do something soon? Thanks,
CharlieNovember 4, 2016 at 6:02 pm #49753I hope so. Textfugu is my only automatic monthly payment – I’m a poor student, but I can’t cancel to take a break because I read somewhere that you can’t get your account back if you do. I hope there’s a way around it, and I’m sorry you got burned. I love this site and its content, but not the customer service.

You can actually take a break, but it appears you need to time it with the end of your month you paid for.
You don’t get the money back, at least not automatically, so you want to wait until the day before you have to pay again, then cancel the payment on Paypal. That’s where you get that warning that you can’t reactivate it, but you can if you log out of your account here on TextFugu, hit “Pricing”, choose the right plan and do the whole thing via PayPal again. Once you get redirected back there is that form where you were asked to enter your new account information. Instead of doing that you click the “existing member” link in the big orange box in the middle of the screen and log in again on the next page. So, if you’re taking a break of at least one month, go ahead and do it, you just have to time it right and not forget.^^
Back to me, I’ve now charged my CC to at least be able to continue, I hope that koichi will return the $20 from yesterday, since I got literally nothing for that…
November 6, 2016 at 2:25 pm #49762Small update:
koichi has answered my mail and gave my account the month back, plus an additional one for the inconvenience.
That is good service.
Still unclear though if I can now cancel my new payment plan without loosing access immediately…
November 6, 2016 at 4:36 pm #49764Ask him about it. Think whichever script it is that’s managing membership is being too aggressive – he needs to make sure that it’s actually granting a month’s access with each payment and not just going “well, he’s got a recurring payment active, so I’ll give him access”.
