Hello, everyone! I’m Lexa, a new TextFugu learner. I’m incredibly slow and easily confused when it comes to new languages, but I’m very committed! So expect to see lots of questions from me in the future.
I was accepted into the study abroad of my dreams, to study culture and language via a two month immersion program in Shinjuku, Tokyo. If everything works out, I’ll spend summer 2014 in Tokyo with a head start on the language, which will make exploring much easier and less scary.
Myself and those from my university who were also accepted made blogs to track our Japanese learning. Although, mine is mostly just travel photos until I can really jump into the language I invite you all to check it out [here] and keep in touch with advice and help if you can!
Thanks!
January 11, 2014 at 4:29 pm #43372Welcome! Congrats on the immersion program. I’d been wanting to do some sort of exchange myself, but I’d always either not have the money, or not have the time.
Nothing wrong with “mostly just travel photos”. I like travel photos. =)
January 11, 2014 at 5:41 pm #43375Welcome to TextFugu and Happy New Year!
However you can keep your sun to yourself. I spent about 20 mins in the sun yesterday and I was sick the rest of the day nearly vomiting. Me and the sun apparently don’t get along very well. :P
LOL.

January 11, 2014 at 6:53 pm #43377Thank you for the links! Yeah, sun poisoning can be really wicked if you get it easily. I feel your pain lol
Welcome! Congrats on the immersion program. I’d been wanting to do some sort of exchange myself, but I’d always either not have the money, or not have the time.
The money is my current dilemma, really. Colleges like to give you as little aid as possible, but I’m making sure I do everything possible to fund it! I hope you manage to find an exchange program, I can only imagine how incredible the experience would be.
January 11, 2014 at 7:33 pm #43382I finished my degree last semester, so exchange programs aren’t really open to me any more. Still pondering JET or something like it, though.
January 11, 2014 at 8:13 pm #43386JET and Interac are sort of my dream jobs. They’re very competitive but even if you only do it for one year, it would be amazing!
