Hi guys,my name is Marco & I think I am an hardcore gamer :S
I am learning Japanese mostly because I grew up playing final fantasy & watching anime,so I am pretty much fascinated by the oriental culture & in the specific by videogames that came from the 日本…I just wish I could play them all…also when I discovered that some games are never released in EU & don’t have a translation & people here don’t even know them (awesome games, that in japanese reviews have votes like 9/10) I decided that I HAD to learn Japanese Language :P… also let’s tell the truth, japanece actor voice is better for games, they put more “emotion” into it xD
I don’t only want to play them,in the future I want also to be able to work on them (as a 3d Artist) :P
So,if someone of you share my same passion/s about playing or making videogame (2d/3d art),I would like to have you guys on my friend list on Steam (cause if you love playing you also use Steam :D hehe )
so to sum up,add me to Steam friends if:
-you love japanese videogames & you wish one day you can play them all :D
or
-you will one day work on videogames in an artist position (2d or 3d) :P
This is me http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197998742788/ ;)

June 4, 2013 at 3:11 am #40476“japanece actor voice is better for games, they put more “emotion” into it” – that’s not necessarily true. I’m sure there are plenty of games/tv shows where the English voice actors are similar or better. At the end of the day, they are all human, they all have voices and they all have the potential to be fantastic or awful or somewhere in between.
June 4, 2013 at 4:02 am #40477it’s the bad impression some games gave to me xD (mostly one piece lol) but of course,I know what are you saying is true,I just want the japanese voice in the japanese games, like final fantasy :)
June 4, 2013 at 4:16 am #40478So, I know it’s not quite representative of all dubbing, but the horrible voices they put on when dubbing various NHK World shows are just painful – probably because they only have like three or four people to dub over twenty vox pops, but still…
Most anime dubs I’ve seen aren’t a great deal better. Emotive or not, the Japanese voices are just plain easier on the ear.
And the soul.
June 4, 2013 at 4:19 am #40479What can I say…I still prefer them 100 times over the anime voices we have here in italy :)

June 4, 2013 at 4:28 am #40481Actually to tell you the whole story, bad voice dubbing is pretty much what pushed me toward the japanese language in the first place :P
I used to follow One Piece in the italian language, but then for some mesterious reason they decided to change the voice of the main character with a really bad voice (in my opinion, not that the guy was not good in his own way,he simply didn’t fit the character AT ALL). So that change was simply ruining the anime I loved,so I decided to try with the original language,& from that moment forward I stayied with it,actually founding myself liking almost all the voices more than the italian counterpart :P

June 4, 2013 at 8:28 am #40486Ah yeah, I’d forgotten about NHK World… Those voice-overs are so bad they’re good though :D
With regard to Final Fantasy, I’ve only played number 10, but the voice acting in that wasn’t that bad. I liked both Rikku’s and Wakka’s voices. Lulu was decent too. And before anyone mentions it, the “laughing scene” DOES NOT COUNT.
June 4, 2013 at 11:55 am #40491I steer clear of dubs unless the Japanese voices are annoying/badly acted (becoming more perceptive of what’s realistic as I study Japanese). However, there are a few very successful English dubs. The best I’ve ever heard is Cowboy Bebop, and some of the Ghibli films have done it well. I remember agonising over the familiar voice of the Tolmekian general in ‘Nausicaa’ for hours before working out who it was (Uma Thurman).
June 4, 2013 at 3:30 pm #40494Changing subject,still no steam users? IMPOSSIBRU!!!
June 4, 2013 at 3:33 pm #40495I use Steam. I almost never have it open, though.
June 4, 2013 at 3:38 pm #40496:( The point is to chat on steam (maybe in japanese),play togeter, exchange info about new awesome games coming from japan that noone outside of there know for the lack of a translation (like ドラゴンシャドウスペル,even if not new) & so on…if you are almost never online,is not a big help… :(
June 4, 2013 at 3:43 pm #40497Aye, which is exactly why I elected to not mention my Steamishness until just now. =P
June 4, 2013 at 3:51 pm #40498Lol :D
Btw guys,in case someone of you don’t know what Steam is… IT HAVE FREE AWESOME GAMES :D go to check xD
June 5, 2013 at 3:27 am #40503I have Steam, it’s just that I don’t know you… If you’re wanting to chat to other TextFugu users (in Japanese or not), we have a TeamSpeak server, which happens to be the topic of one of the only three stickied threads here: http://www.textfugu.com/bb/topic/we-have-a-textfugu-teamspeak-server-btw/
I haven’t been on it in probably almost 2 years, but I’m sure other people still go on.Edit: It’s cool looking at that thread and seeing all the people that used to come here regularly :D ooh_a_robot, ロブ, Watarimono, Larisajane, Kaona, Sheepy, Revenant, Hashi(!), Midori, tubatime1010
