Hello,
I’m in season 5 right now and I’m studying the ultimate decks right now, for vocabulary, adjectives en verbs. The problem is that it’s taking me quite a long time, sometimes to the point where I neglect the other lessons of Textfugu. I only use one ultimate vocabulary deck though, I’m on the second one and I’m almost through with that, so that’s good. It’s just that the verbs and adjectives decks are taking quite a while to complete and I don’t think I’m anywhere close near completing them.
I was wondering if this is normal or maybe I’m being inefficient in my studying? Will it get better?
I try to do it every day, but it’s taking me at least one hour alone to review all my Anki decks. It used to take me 10 minutes in the beginning and about 30 minutes in the middle, to call it that. It’s causing some problems but I really don’t want to give it up. I guess this situation could be what the dip is… So far I’m planning to keep at it, but I’d be nice if this gets better somehow in terms of studying.

May 28, 2014 at 9:17 am #45272I’m approaching the end of Season 3 and even my Anki is starting to become inordinately time consuming as well. I’ve also started RTK 1 which doesn’t really help shorten the time spent in Anki.
Anyways, I’d also be curious to see what others have to say. You’re certainly not alone, Ruben.

The tips actually make sense to me, now that I think about it. That would mean that you may want to hold on for a little longer, Justin. Once you get to season 4 and/or 5, that would be the better time to start following the advice.
May 28, 2014 at 2:39 pm #45279Wow that was a pretty solid writeup by Aikibujin. Thanks for sharing that!
I’m taking it pretty slow with the RTK stuff but because of how my schedule works and what I do as a job, it’s actually very easy to get some kanji in during the day, then I do my TF stuff in the evening. It’s just how I roll.
I think it’s mostly the sentences that are jamming up my time. Because I try really hard to say them out loud properly (or as close as I can get). That comes from being a (former) music student. I just feel weird leaving it at something other than perfect. Other than that though I go through the kana stuff pretty quick and it makes my numbers look really good lol. 100 or so cards in like 4 minutes. That said, I’m spending a lot of time on the vocab. So I think I can shave off a lot of time with that.
