Hello,I’m Sven and I’m from Germany.
I learn Japanese because I don’t want to put up with subtitles any longer.
    Really simple reason isn’t it?
Also i want to play games that never get released in the west.

Sorry I don’t have fancy reasons like “wanna live in Japan” or “Japanese
    culture interests me” :/.

Anyways, I’m new here and just got the forever and ever plan.
I hope I manage to keep myself motivated.

    Hi, Sven. Welcome! :)

No need for a fancy reason to learn Japanese, so long as your reasons keep you motivated when you get overwhelmed or bored. Not wanting to deal with subs sounds like a good enough reason to me!

Good luck with all of your studying!

    Welcome to TextFugu, Sven.

It doesn’t matter whether your reason is something small and simple or big and fancy. What’s important is what that reason means to you.
And as Cassandra said, as long as your reason continues to motivate you then that’s all that really matters.

    Good luck learning Japanese!

    Hi Sven,

I second what the ladies above have already said… any reason to learn Japanese is a good reason! I have friends that are obsessed with manga, anime, cos play, etc but are too lazy to learn the language.

    Good luck with your studies!
