I’ve been using TextFugu as one of my main sources for learning Japanese(other sources: Japanese in MangaLand and Japanese the Manga Way texts). My main goal with the language(initially) was to learn to read it, as I enjoy import video games and manga. I’m only through Season 2 with TextFugu currently.

I have been starting to spend a lot of my “learning” time reading import manga(i.e. Yotsuba, Shirokuma Cafe, and other easier ones). Slowly of course. Learning new vocab from it and new grammar points as I move along. My question is, is this a good or bad method? I’m I possibly forming bad habits? Or is this good, surrounding myself with what I want to learn?

    Thoughts, suggestions are appreciated.

I would say that it’s a good way if that’s your chief reason for wanting to learn the language.

But I would also caution you that you’ll have to be careful how you talk if you actually have conversations with Japanese, as you may inadvertently offend them.

Also, in case you haven’t seen them in other threads, check out the following links:

Manga is good for practice and vocab learning, and because it’s just plain fun. I wouldn’t rely on it for grammar or learning how to talk like a normal person, though.

I LOVE manga. And anime too of course.

If you’re having fun and the learning doesn’t feel like a chore then yup, it’s a good method of learning. The more “input” you get, the better, and anything made by natives for natives is ideal. I would say, though, it’d probably do to vary your sources: rather than solely reading manga, maybe try books or newspapers, or watch TV shows, listen to music, that kind of thing, just so you can get a wide variety of different types of the language.
