    Hello.

I’m Rich. I live in the UK, and I’m a computer programmer and a video game tester.

I’m learning Japanese because I’ve always been fascinated by Japan and their culture. I’d like to visit Japan someday and be able to actually talk to people there! And of course, I’d like to be able to understand Japanese video games, anime, manga, films, and TV shows. :)

To be honest, I didn’t actually set out with the goal of seriously learning Japanese. I’ve never studied a second language before, outside of the French I was forced to learn at school — and I wasn’t very good at it back then. Learning Japanese just came to mind as one of the many things that I’d like to do in life if I could, and while reading a bit about it when I was bored I stumbled upon TextFugu.

I decided to read through a bit of TextFugu seeing as the first season was free, and I became drawn in by the lovely writing style of it. TextFugu seems really accessible to beginners, and it’s a joy to read. As I’ve been working through it, I’ve been having a lot of fun and I find myself taking it more and more seriously. I’m surprised by how much I’ve been able to learn already, even though I’m still very much a beginner. I’m currently half way through season 2, and I’ve been using WaniKani for a week now.

It’s nice to meet you all!

Thanks for the welcome, and for the links! I’ll be sure to refer to that list of errors as I work through TextFugu.
