Hello everyone! My name is Maja (マヤ). I have been studying lessons from Text-Fugu for a few months now and have never gotten around to introducing myself until now. I became interested in the Japanese culture through music. Ever since I was little, I always enjoyed my fair share of j-pop, j-rock, j-hip-hop, you name it! One thing that always bothered me was not understanding such a beautiful language. I guess you can say that this became my motivation for studying the language.

Even though I have taken a Japanese language class before (in high school) and have had exposure to the language through various media, Text-Fugu was really my first serious attempt at learning the language and… I am sticking with it :).

My High School didn’t actually offer classes ^^;;. I took them through a community college as a non-credit course but then the teacher ended up switching jobs and the class got canceled.

As for music, I listen to Namie Amuro, Miyavi, Mr. Children, Mika Nakashima, Dir En Grey, Heartsdales, Akane, Merging Moon, Nujabes, Utada Hikaru to name a few. I used to listen to a bigger variety back in the day but yeah, it’s kinda hard to keep up with all of the musicians now-a-days.

Are you a fan of J-pop, J-rock and ect?

Not to jump into a conversation and be completely rude or anything, but I listen to a little, but had a hard time looking up individual artists, but I am very interested in looking through the few that you provided! ありがとう
