Hey all! I’m a high school student in the state of Washington in the US. I’m studying Japanese for a number of reasons.  The largest of these is that I want to be able to communicate with my friend in her native language(her English is great, but I’d love for it to be both ways).  Like many, I’m a manga fan, so knowing Japanese for that would be pretty cool to. Finally, I really respect the Japanese culture and would love to one day study there/ live there one day.  I know its going to be hard, and we high school kids are sooo impulsive, but think I’ve got a shot at leaning this.  I already know hiragana and katakana because I used quizlet for a month before discovering textfugu, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to stick with this. Wish me luck on my journey into the world of Japanese!

These are quite good reasons for learning Japanese! I’m sure you’ll manage it – and you have personal teacher in your friend – couldn’t be better, ね?
