My name is phdar! I came across Textfugu from Wanikani. I wanted to add to my collection of resources to learn how to properly function in the “countryside” of Japan where foreigners and English speakers are even fewer than in the larger cities. I can’t wait to develop into a better Japanese speaker and be able to better interact with the locals in my city. よろしくお願いします！
Welcome! What are you doing in Japan? And where in particular are you?
Currently I’m teaching English as a way to get my foot in the door for my career ESL/EFL education. I currently live in Asahi City in Chiba.
Ooo, Chiba. That’s pretty much just around the corner from Tokyo. =P
Eh, I’m about three hours by train from Tokyo and two hours away from Chiba City. It’s a great place out here: it’s not too crowded and the people are friendly. People who live here call it the countryside, but I think that’s a misnomer–it is more of a suburb of Chiba.
