Hello, my name is Dylan Jansen and I’m from South Africa but I live in New Zealand at the moment. I have decided to study Japanese for a reason which is probably common and that is: Japanese culture fascinates me and I wish to learn more about it as well as being able to read and understand it of course. I’m 16 years old and as you’ve probably guessed, Anime and Manga do appeal to me and have influenced me heavily with my decisions and such… and so, here I am.

    How are you all today?

    Hi Dylan!

It is nice to meet you. I’m doing well, how are you today?

How long have you been studying Japanese? I starting learning Japanese a month and a half ago. However, my first two weeks I only practiced reading and writing hiragana and katakana. Self-studying a textbook the past month only confused and frustrated me, so I decided to start over. I only started to use Textfugu today. Are you using studying materials besides Textfugu?

I’m feeling great today, I started trying at the language about a year ago when I started practicing Hiragana, Katakana and a few grammar aspects of the language using an iPhone app that really helped and explained some things. I burnt out a little back then though so I only got to around half of Katakana and a few sentence builders. I also decided to start over using Textfugu and it’s been pretty great so far, it’s really good at keeping things interesting. Nice to meet you!

はじめまして、Dylan! I lurk the forums rather consistently, so feel free to stop by to say hi c: Best of luck on your Japanese studies!

Not from the desk of Eihiko. Eihiko's boss took his desk away from him.
