Hi everyone, my name is Jamal and I’m a recent college graduate.

When it comes to why I’m trying to learn Japanese, I don’t know if I have a solid answer yet. I’ve always been interested in the Japanese culture and language, but enough so to actually fully learn the language. I’ve actually tried learning Japanese when I was younger, but I think that I overwhelmed myself and ended up quitting.

Now that I do research into certain species of bacteria that are heavily studied in Japan, I feel that learning at least a basic amount of the language will help the communication process with Japanese researchers. I do, however, plan to take my time with this so that I don’t scare myself away (maybe only 30 minutes to an hour a day).

I appreciate any help or support that you’re willing to give :)

Edit: Wow, I don’t think I’ve changed that avatar in years. Does anybody know how to change it?

Welcome! I have to admit, you probably won’t be learning any of the technical sciency terms on TextFugu. =P

    Got it, Thank You.

And luckily, a lot of English scientific words have become pretty popular worldwide. I just need to learn how to make up the other parts of the sentence.
