I am never quite sure how to start out these self-introduction things, but…here goes!
My penname is Suishou Yuki （水晶雪）and my nickname is Haruka. I’ve been playing at learning Japanese for several years now and have only really gotten serious about it the past year or so (2010-now) because I joined a subtitle group as a translator. Just translating songs helped me greatly last year, and I found JapanesePod101.com, which is great, and then not too long ago I stumbled onto one of Koichi’s videos. It didn’t take very long for me to join TextFugu after that! Needless to say, I’ve learned a lot more since, and I still haven’t been giving it my all.I guess the point of saying all of that is that I feel that I can now put forth the effort to properly learn Japanese!
For perhaps more interesting things, I am an artist, singer/songwriter, and dancer; I also write and I manage a few websites and groups.
I have a Japanese language blog, but I don’t post in it like I want to…I also have a blog on Ameba, but since I’m not proficient in Japanese yet it’s a bit difficult for me to post there…So here’s a different blog of mine I’ll link you to:

Thank you! We provide English subtitles and karaoke as needed to PVs, live performances, making-of videos, etc. of Hello!Project groups (Morning Musume, S/mileage…). We haven’t completed as much this year as we did last year because several members are busy with other things…

I wouldn’t say legendary, but I do think we’re pretty well-known. Hello!Fansubs is probably more popular. Subtitles really are a lot more difficult than they seem to be! I really appreciate our typesetters and encoders.
It’s nice to meet fans here too! Now if only I could find some local, “real-life” fans…Wow! First one is cool; I love the second one! I will definitely be returning. *bookmarks*
By the way, just saying in case, when I mean idols, I mean idols in general. As you can see, I belong in the AKB派. I know virtually nothing about MM, but thanks to NSK’s daily livestreams (NewSchoolKaidan), I’ve seen a few MM shows or H!P stuff. Also I mean I kinda loop together scanlations along with subbing because they have like specialized jobs, special process, fan based effort etc. but obviously the differences between the 2 are there with subbing being the much more difficult process.
So even though I don’t really like MM and know nothing about them, I really do appreciate the effort that you guys are putting into for the fans.
With that said, welcome to Textfugu and now I await the arrival of more AKB fans

Welcome to textfugu Haruka!
Very cool to see that you’ve been doing subtitle/translation work.. Always have much respect for those who do that type of stuff (mainly because I’m often at the receiving end!).
And oh yes, even just barely scratching the surface of Japanese will help tremendously. You’ll start noticing oddities and curious things in the language. For example, neko = cat, umi = sea, umineko = seagull (sea cat?!).. Whether “sea cat” is intended, it’s interesting and helps me retain the vocabulary.
