Hi everyone, I’m Sean. This isn’t my first attempt to learn Japanese; my first attempt was when I was stationed overseas in Okinawa. Unfortunately, I did not learn the language as well as I wanted to. Part of my goal is to fix that. I also grew to love anime over there (yes, laugh if you want), and I hope to be able to watch it without subtitles. Finally, I hope that someday I’ll be able to go to Japan again (either for work or vacation), and actually be able to explore without getting hopelessly lost. That’s all about me for now.

    Sean,

Welcome! How much did you learn while in Japan?

TextFugu is a great resource! You’ll learn a ton. :)

    Good luck!

Hey Sean! I presume that you were in Okinawa as part of the military? What branch did you serve under?

Welcome to TextFugu and good luck learning Japanese! :)

Thanks for the kind welcome. To answer a couple questions.

    1) I really didn’t learn too much at all, just the basic greetings, numbers up to 100, and how to ask how much something costs.

    2) I served in the army while in Okinawa.

    Thanks again.
