Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. I recently moved to Okinawa Japan a few months ago. My husband is in the military so we will be here till 2013 nov. We decided to get a japanses style apartment off base and I do not regret that decision one bit :) I have been studying Japanese for about a month now and I am pretty comfortable with my hiragana and about 1/2 through the katakana. I hope to learn as much as I can and soon be able to read signs, menus, and maybe even my washing machine one day. ( I only know which button is start lol )

Before we leave here we are going to visit Tokyo at least once and I really want to be able to read and speak enough to get by and not look like a silly American.

Well wish me luck and I hope to see you all in the forums.

Lynndsay – welcome! How great that you’re in Japan for awhile and decided to learn the language. Good luck with your studies! If you need any help, just post on the forums and someone will answer your questions. :)

    Welcome and good luck!

Hi Lynndsay, welcome to TextFugu! I gotta say, I’m pretty jealous of your being in Okinawa and all. Good luck learning Japanese!
