Hi! Jaccob here and I’m trying this thing out… again. I think I have the means and the motivation… and I’m not playing video games as much anymore so I have more time to study (Yay! Not playing dark souls all day) any way here’s my answer to the question in season 1 :1. Because I want to do early release videos for Dark Souls 2 and be able to translate developer interviews…or really just JRPG’s in general 2. After reading about the 88 temples that sounds tempting I did spend time in a Japanese monastery and I think that would be awesome to go on a pilgrimage next!

I’ve also been intrigued by the 88 temples pilgrimage. Trouble is, it takes a month to do the whole thing properly. =)

Wow, I’ve never heard of this 88 temples thingy! I’m going to have to check it out now just to see what your refering to. Welcome back btw, and good luck with your studies.

Thanks Joel! That was interesting and sounds like it would be a LOT of fun.

Also a very very long walk.

Journeys in Japan (travel show on NHK World) did a four-part special on it, and what they showed looked very pretty, but yeah – it takes a month to do it properly. =)

Thanks all for bringing up the 88 temples pilgrimage.  Now even more motivation to learn Japanese.  Just read on wikipedia that someone did this on a folding bike?  You know, like in between a traditional walking pilgrimage and the modern method of trains and buses.  I would love to do that someday…fingers crossed.
