Hello, my name is Nitsan I’m 23 and I live in Israel ( Please! don’t involve me in politics! :) ).

I’m currently facing a long stretch of time in which I’m going to have a lot of free time, So I thought to myself ‘Nitsan, do something productive with it!’

Well, I’ve loved Japan for quite a while now ( it’s culture, it’s food <3, it’s manga :) ) and I’ve always wanted to learn Japanese – Now is the time!

In addition, I’m planning a month long trip to Japan sometime in the coming year (by myself, no one wants/is free to go with me). So, though I know it is possible to get around Japan knowing only English (when I was 18 I traveled to Japan with my older brother for two weeks), I thought it might be a good idea to learn Japanese – or at least some – before my trip!

If anyone would like to know more (not sure why…) or suggest somewhere in Japan I should visit when I am there (!) you are more then welcome to leave a comment!

I’ll happily go with you. You’d just need to pay for me. =P

I have an immense list of places I intend to go if I ever manage to visit Japan again…

Hello Joel, wait a minute I’m transferring the funds right now :)
If you want to write me down that list (or a few items on it?) I would be more then thrilled.

    And, Hello Joshua!

Thank you both for welcoming me to this site :)

Hmm. Let’s see. Most of these are places I happened to see on TV and thought they looked really nice – whether they’d be accessible enough to visit on a holiday is another matter. Just to pick a random sample:

    - Yamadera (Yamagata)
    - Doai Station and Tanigawadake (Gunma)
    - Nokogiri-yama (Chiba)
    - Mount Takao (Tokyo)
    - Half of Kyoto =P
    - Onomichi and Takehara (Hiroshima)
    - Nachi Falls and the Kumano Kodo (Wakayama)
    - Himeji Castle (Hyogo) – it had just closed for refurbishing when I visited, but it re-opened two months ago
    - 88 Temple Pilgrimmage on Shikoku
    - Yanagawa (Fukuoka)

Hi Nitsan! I’m glad you’re learning some Japanese before your trip. I think it will help you have a much better time!

    I recommend:
-Nara for the Tōdai-ji, deer, and peaceful atmosphere.
-Osaka for the iconic shopping streets, good food, and refreshing chaos.
-Koyasan for the Buddhist temples you can spend the night at and enormous, reverent graveyards.
-Tokyo for the . . . everything. It is so big.
-Kyoto’s Kinkaku-ji is a must see. What a surreal experience!

I hope you have a good time! 日本語を頑張れ!
