    Hello TextFugu goers

My name is Callie and I’m college student trying to learn Japanese mainly for artistic purposes. I’m an artist, musician, language lover, and aspiring pastry chef who plans to visit France and Japan in my search for fashion, fun, and foodstuffs. I’ve got 8 years of French under my belt, but Japanese has always been a language I’ve loved. My biggest dream is to go to go around Japan studying art, eating food, and sketching all the unique fashions I see! I believe self-discipline and learning something new everyday, so TextFugu seemed like the perfect thing for me. So nice to meet you all, and I hope we can help each other!

Thank You for the welcome and the well wishes Hashi!

In terms of art, I’ve always loved ukiyo-e prints and have been studying it’s influence on Western art and the Art Nouveau Movement. My favorite artists are Utamaro Kitagawa and Ogata Gekko, but I like modern artists like Takashi Murakami, Yumi Sugiyama (from Heartsdales( and Yayoi Kusama’s abstract surreal sculptures. I’m always on the look out for more artist to follow if you have suggestions!

    Welcome!

Wow, Takashi Murakami’s stuff looks like an episode of Powerpuff Girls on a bad acid trip.

Not that that’s a bad thing mind you. :P
