Hi everyone! I’m Dicte, and I’m from Denmark. ^^
I’m not actually a complete self-learner, since I’m studying Japanese at my university, but after reading season 1 of TextFugu, I found that I really liked the language and teaching methods used there, and I’m going to use it as a supplement to my studies and for a better understanding of everything. Also I’m looking forward very much to a different kanji learning system, since the one we use in school is really bad (as pointed out in season 1 many times too) and doesn’t work out for me -at all-.
Nice to meet you! ^^January 15, 2014 at 5:53 pm #43531Welcome! I did TextFugu on the side while learning Japanese at uni as well. We studied using the Nakama textbook, where (for some inexplicable reason) the first kanji taught are those for the days of the week…
January 15, 2014 at 8:45 pm #43535Welcome to TextFugu and Happy New Year!
It sounds like you would be a good candidate for WaniKani. It’s a separate system developed by Koichi that solely focuses on Kanji. It works like a game with 50 levels. Most of the Kanji taught in TextFugu are covered in the first 10 levels, so there’s a heap more and it’s even better than using Anki.
You’ll find a link to it with a discount on the dashboard:

You have to sign up for the site and they will send you an invite to join. The first 2 levels are free.

January 16, 2014 at 4:07 am #43538Yes, thank you, I already signed up for WaniKani! :D It seems great so far, though it takes a long time to get to the kanji, doesn’t it? It’s a slow start when you know stuff before you started.
Thanks for the links anyways. ^^On my university our textbook for kanji is called BKB – Basic Kanji Book. And it’s alright, but it’s the “writing repetition method” and well, I just seem to be unable to remember anything even if I write each kanji 200 times – which takes much too long. :P So yeah, that’s why I’m here! (and at WaniKani)

January 16, 2014 at 6:48 am #43540Yeah it seems slow to start, but then it gets heavy…
Good luck!
January 16, 2014 at 8:03 am #43541Hej Dicte jeg er også fra Danmark. Du er den første dansker jeg møder her.
ようこそ
Do you get Japanese classes in English or Danish. And do you know a Japanese-Danish or Danish-Japanese dictionary that works?
Stay motivated.January 19, 2014 at 5:35 am #43614Since both of my teachers are Japanese, we learn Japanese in English. :) The only classes we have in Danish is things such as Japans history or social sciences etc, but all of our language learning is English-Japanese. So sadly I don’t know any Japanese-Danish/Danish-Japanese dictionaries. :( But I’ll ask my Danish teachers if they know any! They might, since they know Japanese too.
January 19, 2014 at 5:53 am #43615Cool, it sounds like all around you know Japanese (or at least three). I know no one around me who do.
Thank you. It is not a major issue for me, since I improve my English while I study Japanese.January 19, 2014 at 6:38 am #43616Ohh, another dane. Welcome!
January 19, 2014 at 8:44 am #43620So we aren’t that few I see.
