My name is Gavin, and I’m another drop in the ocean of people signing up for New Year’s. I’m currently based in Chicago. I’ve had a persistent, but not always well-informed, interest in modern Japanese culture since I was a boy. I’m drawn to well-established cultures that are paradoxically quick to integrate many new ideas and norms. My goal is to live and work in Japan, doing functional programming. This would probably be “international”, i.e., through English, but I will certainly integrate better and have a real experience if I learn the language and the culture in advance.
