Hi, I’m Danielle. I’m currently living in Huntsville, AL with my husband and two cats. I found Textfugu when I was reading through the posts on Tofugu actually. I like Japanese culture, some anime, a couple manga, food(seriously yum-zors), and bento. Really though, I like all these things about as much as I like stuff from any culture. I know of and see some of this stuff on a regular basis but not enough to motivate me to learn a new language.

I really got inspired to learn Japanese now, because my husband’s brother and sister-in-law will be moving to Japan soon. My sister-in-law is also currently pregnant with her first child and soon to be my first niece! I want to learn Japanese because my husband and I want to be able to travel to Japan to visit. Being able to speak and read Japanese will make it easier for us to visit without having to be babysat the whole time by our brother and sister-in-law. Also, since my new niece will be half-Japanese and growing up in Japan I would like to be able to talk to her in whatever language she ends up speaking most often.

Really, I just want to bridge the gap that will exist with a family that is split half-way across the world. My sister-in-law took the time to learn English and her and her husband want to move to Japan to raise their new family, the least I can do is learn Japanese.
