Hi All,
I’m a 30yo who is revisiting goals from my teen years. I recently decided to watch some anime again, but found that its not as fulfilling. Either incorrect endings, missing information etc. I thought to myself “It would be great to be able to read the source material (manga/light novels)”. Shortly after I found myself in a position where I had to sit at a desk for 8 hours a day and not play games or look at almost any category of website. I found myself studying Japanese to see how far I could go.
So now I’m here. At some point I became frustrated at romaji and plain hiragana courses/materials. I studied Mandarin for a year so that is a bit confusing, but at the same time makes Kanji look a lot easier. My quiet time at work ends this weekend, so I guess my first challenge is to not return to my original routines.
I have 1 particular milestone I hope to achieve before I give up. On my way to China once there was a stopover in Tokyo. I bought a GTO manga from the newsagent. I’d like to be able to read/translate it. It has furigana so I’m optimistic that I’ll get there.
