Hey there. My name is Clayton. I am a university student studying applied physics. I live in NY during the school year, and go home to my family in CO during the summer. I want to learn Japanese for a few reasons. First, there is a large amount of research that goes on in Japan, so to be able to speak the language will be helpful for my career. Secondly, I am big into cars, especially the JDM scene. I daily/autocross a ’97 M-Edition Miata. It’s a blast! Finally, and probably least importantly, I enjoy watching anime and it’d be nice not to have to read subtitles.

I hope to get to know you all as my time here progresses. See you around!

Those’re some unique reasons I’ve heard. Good luck!

Haha, it’s hard to tell yet. I’m really trying right now, but obviously it’s not an everyday thing. The more I try the more I’m sure it’ll stick though.

I know what you mean. My main worry is that during the semester I get really bogged down with schoolwork and research. I think I’m just going to have to treat this like another class, and just make myself sit down and work on it at least 3-4 times a week, but ideally every day. We’ve come this far, though, which is more than some, and tomorrow we’ll be further yet, so it’d be a shame to quit now :)

I usually just get distracted with kids, games, and being tired. :D

And I agree! Right now my only concern is if I should keep going or wait for EtoEto to be finished, although I think I’ll just keep going. I need to do some more Rosetta Stone, too. And more Katakana. Gaaahh!
