Hello All, I have been thinking about doing this program for some time now. I am the probably the only person online who find Koichi funny….kidding of course.

I live in Japan from 1993 – 1996 while in the US Navy and absolutely loved it. I was at sea about half of the time but got to see much of souther Japan on my bike and on the train. I would return in a heart beat. It’s a remarkable country and to this day I feel a very strong tug at my heart when anyone speaks of Japan. I look forward to saving up my money and going back soon for a visit.

I did some of my homework already. I am in Charlotte, NC and would love to study with anyone in the area if you want to?

    Why Are You Learning Japanese?

    1. I would like to visit Japan and be able to talk to people
    2. I would like to visit Japan and understand what the people in the ginza are saying
    3. I would like to visit Japan and not need a translated
    4. I would like to watch Japanese TV
    5. I would like to listen to Japanese Radio
    6. I would like to read Japanese News and watch videos online
    7. If at all possible I would love to eventually work in Japan or retire in Japan.

    What excuses hold you back?

    1. I get stuck like I have in the past and can’t get past a concept or word
    2. Not having anything or anyone to practice with.
    Thanks, David Vasta Sasebo, Japan

Haha I used to live in Charlotte NC, before I moved back to Mexico. But I probably wouldn’t have started learning Japanese if I hadn’t. Loved and still love Charlotte =P

Hi David and welcome! Aww bummer, I would love a study partner but sadly I’m in Columbus, Ohio. Boo :(

And if you get stuck, please don’t hesitate to ask people here….no matter how silly or stupid you may think the question is. I’ve only been seriously studying a couple months now and have already asked a pretty dumb question lol.

Best of luck with your studies!! :)

Lol no Columbus isn’t too far, but still far enough eh? The weather is finally getting really chilly here, I’m pretty jealous of the nice weather you get most of the time!! (p.s. sorry, I was born and raised in Canada, the ‘eh’ is a hard habit to drop) ;)
