Hello everyone,
My name is Adam, I am 20 years old and still pretty early on in college. I have always been very interested in the Japanese culture and language which is why I tried learning Japanese two or three years ago but I guess I just didn’t want it bad enough, I didn’t follow through. Since then I’ve decided that I am going to be joining the military and (hopefully) one day be lucky enough to see an extended tour in Japan. Though that is my long term goal I guess the reason I am feeling so gung-ho about it lately is that learning hiragana has helped me to shake off some of the feeling that my life is pretty much the same now as it was a few years ago. Moving forward and all of that. :)
I look forward to meeting the people here and getting further along in my studies! :D

Hey Adam, welcome! Good luck with the military! Hopefully you’ll get a good tour instead of being stationed in a war zone. :) My brother has spent three years in Iraq and we’re glad he’s in the US (for now, at least). Good luck with your studies!

Nice to meet you Cassandra. Yes, unfortunately I have no illusions about where I’ll be ending up to begin with. I can only hope I’ll be able to make it through that and be able to reach my goal at some point in the years to come.
