    Hi there,

I’m not very good at self intros! So I will just follow the instructions of the task. A little bit about me, my name is Jamie and I’ve been living in Japan for a little more than a year now. Overall it’s been great! Except that I don’t know the language. It’s gotten to the point where I’m completely fed up with myself for not putting the time and effort into learning it, especially when it’s swirling all around me. I’m not in Canada, I’m not in a foreign country..I’m in Japan and I’m still not 100% confident in ordering food at a restaurant or reading simple signs. It’s pathetic.
So, my tangible goal is to try and pass the JLPT N2 test this year in December. Why do I want to learn Japanese and take the N2? I plan on staying in Japan for a very long time. I don’t need it to survive here, but I need to learn Japanese to have a more enriching experience, understand jokes and argue and what not. And talk to my boyfriend’s parents too. And future kids if I have them. I hope I can contribute to the online forums and also learn from everyone here. Okay that’s it! Looking forward to succeeding in teaching myself Japanese with you all!

Good luck with your studies, and stay strong. the process isn’t easy, but you will definitely have a more enriching experience in Japan. :)

Welcome! What are you doing in Fukuoka, exactly?

N2? And you’re just starting Japanese? I passed N3 a year ago, and that was three years after I started learning Japanese. I mean, I guess you’re IN Japan, which means you’ll probably be learning faster than me, but… good luck with that, then. =)
