はじめましてみなさん、
My name is Mikael, and I’m an university student from Helsinki, Finland. I subscribed to TextFugu a week ago, and so far I’ve been having a ton of fun with it! ^^ I had a great outburst of joy when I noticed that I had learned to read, write and pronounce all the hiragana after doing Koichi’s practices a few times – so ありがとう Koichi! I’ve also started reading Tofugu actively, and what a fun time I’ve had doing so! I’m really happy and thankful that the team and the community exists! :)
Here are the reasons I listed, that I want to study Japanese:
-I want to study in Japan as an exchange student, and be as fluent as possible in the native tongue with my co-students
-I want to work using the Japanese language with Japanese people
-I want to be able to read Japanese text fluently, and write good letters / emails to my pen pals completely in Japanese
-I want to know if I’m able to learn a new language from scratch, especially one as challenging as Japanese
-I want be able to translate and understand the lyrics of my favorite Japanese artists and bands
-I want to be able to watch Japanese dramas and movies without subtitlesどうぞよろしくおねがいします。

Your reasons to study Japanese sound similar to my own. I also study at the university.
January 11, 2014 at 11:08 am #43368Moi! Hauska nähdä, että suomalaisia TextFugun käyttäjiä löytyy! :) I noticed your thread before I posted my own, so I named it “Hello from Helsinki” instead of “-Finland”. ;)
Really? We’re on similar ground then, I hope we can both achieve our goals!
