Hey everyone, adding to the list of new joins. My name’s Joe, I’ve been stationed in Okinawa Japan for a total of 8 years now. You’d think by now I would have learned something. My understanding of Japanese is pretty good. I can listen to conversations and follow along but joining in is a different story and reading is right out of the question, until after season 1, now hiragana actually makes sense.
I’ve done rosetta stone, pilsner, instant immersion, pretty much just got frustrated and quit. Loving textfugu so far, also been looking at a few more learning styles like this such as wanikani which has helped more in the last couple of weeks than the months of using the other programs.
Anyways, looking forward to continuing to learn Japanese like my future depends on it (it does) and so I can actually have conversations with my fiancé’s family. Ultimate goal is to retire and live in Japan so learning the language will kind of help with that.
